VAT Agent (VAT No. only)
Does your business fall into one or more of the following categories?
Your import volumes are relatively small, and you are able to pay import VAT upfront and reclaim it later
You carry out purchases or B2C sales within the EU and therefore are not eligible for the LFR regime
You wish to keep compliance requirements simple and prefer not to provide any security
If so, the VAT Agent solution may be the right fit for your business.
As your VAT Agent in the Netherlands, we assist you with the registration of a Dutch VAT number. Once registered, your company can legally carry out a wide range of activities in the Netherlands, including but not limited to:
Importing goods into the Netherlands
Sales (both B2B and B2C) within the EU
Purchases within the EU
Transferring inventory from other EU Member States to the Netherlands
Exporting goods
Unlike General Fiscal Representation (GFR), the VAT Agent model does not involve applying for a GFR license or the Article 23 import VAT deferment. As a result, import VAT must be paid to Dutch Customs at the time of import. This VAT can then be reclaimed through the subsequent VAT return, which we file on your behalf with the Dutch Tax Authorities.
With its clear structure and low entry threshold, the VAT Agent model is particularly suitable for businesses with modest import volumes that are seeking a flexible and compliant entry into the EU market.
